Our Unit Is Full

Our unit is full and we are short of nurses. One agency nurse called in sick this morning an hour before the shift start. She must be rich to decline the $120 an hour rate for agency nurses. Imagine that if you work 12 hours. $120 x 12 equals to $1,440 for a 12 hours work. Even if you deduct the tax you will still take home more or less a thousand bucks. That's a lot for a day work. I can already buy a Burberry bag or Louis Vuitton bag or maybe a spyderco military for that amount. But I cannot blame her because today is Australia Day and most Australians are having a party.

Sorry But I Hate Them

I was on duty on Sunday night and finished the shift unwell. My body was very sore. It is because my patient was confused overnight. I just hate looking after confuse patient. You can give me the sickest creature on earth but not a confused one!

We Had A Holiday!!!

Now I feel renewed after a short holiday. Me and my family had two nights break at the seaside and all of us had a great time. We went there Monday after my night shift and as usual I did not sleep the whole day, not until 10PM. We came back this afternoon and guess what? I am on tonight for an extra shift. After spending money in our holiday I need an extra cash. I bet I won't need sleep aids tomorrow.

This Makes Me Smile :) Yay!

My patient told me last night that I look good, look attractive and very presentable with a very nice skin. To make it clear he wasn't confused :) Yay! Thanks to my good genes that I did not suffer from adolescent acne to adult-acne. Mind you this is not the first time that I was praise by a patient. Way back when I started nursing in the UK that was 10 years ago when I was still slim. All my patients and even colleagues doesn't believe me when I told them that I have two kids that I left in the Philippines. Does it mean I look young with my age? LOL

WTH!!!

Who is stupid enough in our unit that took picture of one of or confused patient and showed it to other colleagues and made fun of it. Does she ever know what patient confidentiality is. That nurse should be suck! Now supervisors and managers are not allowing us nurses and doctors to use mobile phone in the unit. This really sucks!

MY US Dream...

Few weeks ago when the flooding did not hit us yet US dollars were down compared to Australian dollars. I met a lot of agency nurses who used to work in the United States and are now working here. If you are a reader of this blog you know already that I wanted to practice over there. I am waiting for my green card for 5 years now. But now I am having a second thought if I will still transfer over there. US dollar/us coins exchange rate is going down and down. Australian dollar is not that strong compared before but I'm sure after this flooding crisis the economy here will improve again.

We Are On Red Alert

Half of my colleagues are affected with the flood. Some of them their houses are already flooded and some who are safe and dry don't have any access to come to work because most roads are flooded. All hospitals are on red alert because some are closing down due to under staff. According to my laptop computer that I am using now, the river in the city will be at peak at 8 meters high. Hopefully the damage will not be too bad and all people will be safe.

We Are Flooded

WE live in Queensland and even though me and my family are not affected with the flood. The place surrounding us are flooded. We are supposed to be travelling to Melbourne today but roads are closed because of the severe flooding we are experiencing around Queensland. So instead of going on holiday I was at work last night. This is the best thing I can do to help others.

My Not So Good Holiday

How's your holiday everyone? Me not so good. I have on going personal problem and having that on board doesn't help especially when I am at work. I try not to be affected especially when I am working but it's hard. Since unit is not so busy because there is less admissions because surgeons are on leave I took annual leave most of the time. Tonight I am off again and since our faucet is not working the maintenance guy will come and change it with kohler parts. So me and kids can't go out even if we want to.
