Me - the nurse will be one year older on Friday. YAY. I will be 34 years old. I graduated when I was 19 and I've been nursing since then. It means I am already in service for 15 years. Now I do feel old. I just hope that I can retire before I reach my big 50. Hopefully if all my kids will do well at school (which I think they will) I will be retiring before 16 years. Ouch! It makes my back ache thinking about it. Will I last that long?
The Nurse Will Be....
A Gift For Me

Picture taken at work this morning. Because I am not an office girl I don't have a background of modern office furniture instead I have a background of a ventilator to help patient breath and a spotlight for us to see the patient. Well, why do I have a gift? It's my birthday on Friday and my thoughtful South African colleague gave me an early present. I was over the moon. So happy because even we are not that close she remembers my special day.
Study To Learn
We all know that education is important. I don't know with some other people that even if they have a chance to go to school they just wasted their lives. Maybe they don't have enough time or they are just plain lazy? Now because of technology you can do an online degree by connecting to the Internet world. Have you heard about Western Governor Online University? If not check it out. You don't have any excuse now because you can do an online course/degree anywhere you want. Me, I am already a nurse for 14 years and I'm still continuing to learn. Just done my online course for my US continuing education and also I am planning to do masters degree online. Why not? Every new thing that we learn is useful to our everyday's life. Right?
Stressed Nurse
One thing that made me sick as well is stress. I'm so stressed with the residency application, US license renewal (which I've done the continuing education for 30 hours online) and my coming ALS training for 2 days. I have a lot of topics to study and a lot of forms to fill up. Now I feel like I am going to throw up. Thank God I am at home.
Still Sick...
I was planning to go to work for a night shift tonight but I felt tired after I went to the city. Felt my knee wobbling while walking home and my joint feel sore. So tonight I am going to have a good massage and I will take joint pain relief so that I will feel better. I will be back at work on Sunday. In total I will have 6 days off. I haven't been to the Doctor and I think I really need to go tomorrow to check what's wrong with me.
Me A Size 16?
When I was at work the other week my colleague asked me if I want her old uniform. When I asked her what size she said; "It's size 16." WTF? Do I look a size 16? No way! I think she was showing off because she is a size 10 now from a size 16 or in weight from 100 kgs. down to 65 kgs. with her 5'7'' height. Not only she's slim but also she develops muscle with her intensive training. She hired a training instructor to motivate her. Also she said she takes testosterone boosters to help her gain more muscle. She did so well and that's only in a span of one year. She is going back home soon to her family in Canada and she can't wait to show them what she got.
Missing the NHS
I still want to have a rest today but then we don't get a lot of off sick here in Australia. Unlike in UK that we have an unlimited off sick. During sickness I always wish I'm still with National Health Service. Unlimited means you can be off as long as you want and you can get up to 6 months of full pay. Here? Only 2 weeks for every year. Bugger! So tonight I am going back to work to compensate, I'm only doing one night and then off again for 2 days. I wish I'm always off...
The Nurse Is Sick
I am off from work due to sickness. The reason? Palpitation and chest tightness. I had this since Sunday it is because I went to parties and ate a lot of suckling pig. Don't know how much cholesterol I had that I suffer this. Also I did a lot of extra shift for the last few months and I think overworked and gluttony doesn't go together. Now what I need is a weight loss pills. Maybe if my weight will be lighter I will fell better. What do you think?
Always On Nights
Even with my 3-5 12.5 hours night shifts a week I don't get acne. My main concerned only is my blackheads on nose. The last time I had it removed was when we went home to Philippines last year. You know the price abroad is so expensive so I did not have it done. Also I'm sure if I will have one here the result is not as good in my home own country which is way much better and cheap. I wish I am in Philippines right now.
Mr. Tax Man
This is a continuation of my last post. I was well paid off for the last fortnight but then 32% of it went to the tax man. Grrrr! The more you earned the more they will take from you. Imagine the amount of the tax I had just for this fortnight can send two persons to Philippines back and forth. ^%@*!!
Well Paid Off :)
I had my salary yesterday and my 116 hours for two weeks work was well paid off. The salary that I receive was my highest so far. I was tired but it's all paid off. For this fortnight I already did one and maybe another one next week. That will be enough because my back already hurts. Thankfully my manager gave me a day off today. Then tomorrow I will be doing a one night 12 hours shift. But then as we all know money comes and go so I am having another job which is my blogging and right now I am going to promote alli reviews which is about losing weight. Check allireviews.com and know the best over the counter drug for weight problem.
Had A Day Out With My Colleague
Me and my friend J. went to the city after our night shift. We went shopping and had a meal in the chinese restaurant. Even we were tired we did enjoy our day out. Then afterwards we went window shopping for a Samsung HDTV. I applied for a one year interest free and I was approved. I really want to get it for my TFC channel but husband doesn't want to. The TV was on sale, $1,699 from $3,200 for a 50 inches. This afternoon I will bring him to the city and let him have a look and maybe he will change his mind :)
My 3rd Night Tonight
It will be my third night shift tonight. I am already tired. Doesn't want to go to work but I need to do an extra shift for financial reason. Can you blame me? After this I need to hit the bed and try to get some sleep to stay awake the whole 12.5 hours shift (apart from 1.5 hour break). Goodnight to me.
He Need A Diabetic Socks
My husband will hit the big 40 in two years time. Yay! As we all know our health changes as we get old especially if we don't live healthily like eating the right food and doing regular exercises. I am worried because my husband got a diabetes background. His Dad had the two legs amputated because of diabetes. That is why as early as now I am telling him to take care of his health because I don't want him to end up in the wheelchair. I still have planned what we will do when we retire :) So right now I am thinking of getting him a diabetic socks. He doesn't have a diabetes but I'm sure this will help his foot circulation. What do you think?
Looking For Dehumidifier
Had my two days off already and haven't done the clothes ironing. Clothes are all piled up and I think for a month now I did not sort it out. So right now every time I go to work and my kids go to school. Need to rummage everything to find our uniforms. LOL. I wish I'm in Philippines so that somebody will do it for me. But because reality sucks and I cannot afford a maid. I need to do it myself. Grrrrrr. For now I don't have a plan to sort it out because I will be working tomorrow. Also I'm here online looking for dehumidifier because my kids colds are getting worst. The clothes can wait.
Exhausted

One more night shift and I will be off. Yehey! I already did 3 nights and I am very tired now. But happy that this coming salary I will have extra money. Yehey again!! But I am already tired. Our contracted hours are 76 per fortnight with 4 hours ADO equal to 80 hours. And this fortnight I did 2 extra shifts and one overtime shift. A total of 116 hours. No wonder I'm exhausted.
I Wish...
Most Filipino nurses in the hospital where I worked already bought houses. Looking at them made me want to mortgage a house. But need to save for deposit first. At least I need to have 10% of the house amount. I need to do more extra shifts then and need to cancel our planned holiday to Philippines this December. I love their houses! Most nurses here that I know have 4 to 5 bedrooms house with a big garden. Some of them got Murray Feiss lighting and a swimming pool. One more year and maybe my dream will come true. I wish!
The Unit Is Full
Arrived in the unit today and everybody are running. Chaotic since the 15 bedded ICU is full. Discharges and admissions makes it worst. I did an 8 hours day shift starting from 10:45 to 19:15. Tomorrow I will be on my usual 12.5 hours night shift and then two days off. Finally after one night shift I will be off. Don't mind the one because I can be awake before night and after night. I just need an in between nap within 48 hours. You know I'm a vampire :) Ta tah then because I still need to look an auto insurance quotes for my friend who recently bought a car.
Off But Not Off
Yes I am off today but decided to do an extra shift tonight for more moolah ;) Anyway, it is raining outside so no used if I will have a day off today. Beside tomorrow I am off. Need to do an 8 hours day shift on Friday and night on Saturday then off again on Sunday and Monday. Looking forward for that day.
Everybody But Not Me
Everybody is losing weight at work but not me!!! Three of my colleagues lose weight already and one of them had a massive 15 kilos weight reduction. She started on December and now she is still aiming for another 30 kilos weight loss. How did she do it? Diet and exercise. She told me the other night that she is using NordicTrack equipment, she even said that she will give me a nordictrack coupon so that I can start my training. If only I can. Yes I know I am lazy!
