A Nurse With Good Appetite :)

I remember when I was new in nursing I can survive shifts especially night duty with only drinks - either coffee, tea, water or cola. But now that I am getting older and fatter I need to eat something with my drinks. So the result? Me getting fatter and fatter everyday. If any of you know the best appetite suppressant in the market please do tell me. I need it badly.

Back To Work

After 1 week off duty I am back again to work tomorrow. Back to reality where I do 12 long hours shifting day and night. I wonder when I am going to win lottery so that I can retire early. Oh life!!!

Pet Supplements

Most people that I know here in Oz are very particular with their health which is really really good. They exercise and eat healthy foods and some of them that I know include their pets to be healthy. One of my colleague buys pet supplements for her dog to maintain her dog's weight which is beneficial for the dog. Check jefferspet.com for any type of pet food and pet supplements. Where you can find quality products in discounted prices.

Ugg Boots For Nurses :)

Now that it is spring time Ugg boots here in Australia are on sale. Not that I want it but one of my best friend in UK who is a nurse too want it. Ugg boots looks nice and comfy but living in a warm place I think it will not be comfortable. Back in UK, almost all of my colleagues have one and they said that even it s a little bit pricey it's all worth it. It reminds me that I need to check the price for my friend N.

A Patient That Was Fork Lifted

I saw a documentary few days ago about the lady who was very obese and her weight plummeted to a massive 400 kilos. I remember that before when I was in UK, we had a patient that was 350 kilos. He died eventually. He was so big that we need to use 2 bed spaces for his bed. Imagine when he was admitted to the hospital he was fork lifted and they need to remove the wall in front of the house because there is no way he will fit in the door. He was bed ridden for years and what he did was eat all the time. I wonder if he used phenocal if it will help him. But it is too late for him... may he rest in peace.

Doctors...

As I said before I am working now in a private hospitals. Most of our Doctors and Consultants are part time or they are only a visiting doctor from another hospital. And because of that they don't have a good relationship with other team members in the hospital. Now I appreciate more our Doctors back in UK where they value nurse's input for patient care. Here no way they will ask nurses. And I think it is not good. Because we nurses are the one with patient all the time and we know better than them what's the patient condition because we are with them 24/7.

Working On A Night Shift

The difficult thing working as an ICU nurse is that you cannot leave your patient alone. Somebody needs to be with the patient all the time. That is why most of us nurses in ICU developed urinary tract infection. So imagine what's life being an ICU nurse. Just one patient in 12 hours? Very difficult to manage especially that most of the time especially on night shift is not busy. I'm just thankful that in every bed space there is a Samsung television for patient where nurses are allowed to watch as well. But it is difficult because you need to fight yourself not to sleep or else you will be in trouble.
